TR909 FULL Metal case restoration ( Using a factory style vinyl wrap - as they were originally produced )
TR909 FULL Metal case restoration ( Using a factory style vinyl wrap - as they were originally produced )
FULL METAL CASE RESTORATION SERVICE :
This is a complete restoration of all the metal surfaces.. i.e. the case.
BUT, this time, when we restore the 909 case, we don’t put a textured finish, or silk screen to the case.
instead we coat and apply a replica vinyl wrap of the one they originally came with ( ie a replica ) using the same artwork. this is NOT as hard wearing as the powdered version but is more original.
If your case is in great order, you may not need ANY restoration, just order the wrap and fit yourself !
This does not include any electrical repairs, but is front to back, top and base restored.
OPTIONS:
Please add the options for number of bad scrapes and dents, to ‘cost’ your restoration. If you contact craig@sweetdiscrete.co.uk with photos prior to ordering we can guide you and discuss options.
If there is quite a lot of rust, please SEE CASE option for an acid bath when ordering. We recommend this at all times regardless.
Note: Many Roland TR909’s’s have some surface rust by now, so, it is better to acid bath and treat before moving forward with the restoration. Please add option for rust treatment if required.
PROCESS:
This is a worldwide service.
However, when sending your synth case to us from outside the UK it is important to declare the export as ‘for repair’ and return. In most cases, depending on your countries customs / laws, you will not need to pay taxes / duties when we ship back to you. We will endeavour to do this for you but may need your assistance. If we encounter import charges and VAT, will will have to charge this onto you - If we are refunded these charges upon export from UK back to you, we will refund the import charges paid to you.
Please also allow for insurance, yes it’s the case in isolation but being sensible to cover, £5,000 typically costs around £70 at present.
Question : Why would you pay import charges ?
Answer: Some shipping couriers import differently. Also the value you place on you shell attracts 20% VAT in UK. One shipper who we find helpful is DHL who process “for repair” and return correctly ( this cannot be guaranteed at all times of course by Sweet Discrete ).
Summary:
You book and ship to us all the metal pieces to restore of the shell / inner brackets etc. No electronics please.
We add you to our Whattapp for updates and photos etc. You will be informed often as communication is key.
We replicate all artwork and text with same accuracy as our other products. We stencil the artwork over your synth and send update photos to you. There are subtle differences over a synths production. It maybe a line that’s longer, fatter or a design that’s different, so we don’t just use same artwork for all. If there are changes, we make them for your synth !
We match colours within 2 or 3% and get your approval. We then fully strip your old case before refinish / paint, then silk screen new artwork as original. Please note colours can be exact but still look fresher against 30+ year old artwork etc.
We then ship back to you fully restored for you to refit and invoice you for this.
You rebuild your Drum machine as new again and enjoy it for years to come.
We encourage you to leave a review.
This service is available for Studio Outboard and Channel strips etc in a separate shop and are pre-priced there as sizes are pretty standardised.
Please note, if you require a different colour scheme to original, please message us first: craig@sweetdiscrete.co.uk
Please note we are getting very busy, so please allow 20 week turn around from receipt to shipping out ( although this can be sooner, or longer due to demand ) . So, we will endeavour to be within this time, but not at the expense of quality or accuracy, and will always keep you informed with Whattsap and pictures / videos.
Thank you
